The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, highlighted the importance of valuing public university as a fundamental part of the project for the province and the country during his administration. Through a video posted on his official social media, he announced a financing plan to improve university infrastructure in collaboration with the rector of the National University of Moreno (UNM), Alejandro Robba. Kicillof emphasized the need to promote equality of opportunities, instead of limiting them to a few privileged individuals, stressing that it is more a matter of priorities than of resources.
In this regard, Robba pointed out the relevance of the decision by the Buenos Aires government, which replaced the administration of President Javier Milei, noting that the planned project will benefit more than 3,000 students by allowing the construction of 19 classrooms. This will also help overcome the declared housing crisis due to the lack of funding from the current national government.
Furthermore, the rector of the National Technological University (UTN), Rubén Soro, stated that, although the responsibility for funding falls on the national government, the measure seeks to bring public university closer to the youth of the province. Soro described the initiative as a relief in light of the financial difficulties faced by public universities, emphasizing the importance of strengthening and supporting these educational institutions for the benefit of society as a whole.
